Lavandula angustifolia, lavender officinalis or English lavender is robust, small in size and large flowering
Lavandula angustifolia, is a herbaceous perennial plant on the lamiaceae family. To this group of lavanders there are three different varieties: dwarfs- semi-dwarfts- and the tall ones.
We will see here some characteristics of the dwarf one: "mustead lavander"
Is a tough and fragrant plant, small size and compact folliage, with plenty of flowers in the spring.
Once the flowers are over, we will trim the plant to get a rounded, decorative, aromatic and small shrub, or we cut prune the plant if this is very deteriorated and we want to rejuvenate the plant.
They need alkaline soil with a very good drainage system as they do not tolerate water logging. Also they need of a good air circulation. We can improve flowering by adding a fertilizer with potassium.
