Salvia greggii or Autumn Sage is a perennial plant which belongs to the lamiaceas family.
A tough and rustic plant of dense foliage which normally grows no more than 1.00 meter high.
Its flowers are magenta and keep in the plant from spring to winter, although it is possible that we will have to trim it slightly after spring, when the first blooming is over.
Thrives better in  calcareous and sandy soils with good drain.
Salvia greggi is heat tolerant, so we can place it in spots of direct sun without problem.
We will feed it adding a new layer of good soil at the beginning of spring and later we can add fertilizers for flowering every 15-20 days during the bloom time.
Irrigation should be moderated avoiding flooded soils, and once the roots of the plant are sufficient settled Salvia greggii  will be able to suffer periods of drought.
When annual blooming is over, after fall, or at the beginning of spring, it will be very convenient to give a major prune to encourage growing and flowering the next season.
In warm zones Salvia greggi might keep its foliage or part of it during the winter, and in cold areas it will lose all the leaves. Try to cover the foot of the plant with bark to protect roots from frost.
Salvia greggi does not usually suffer from diseases, if any, fungus that develops due to excessive moisture or by poor circulation between plants.
