Alocasia macrorrhiza is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Araceae family. There are up to 60 different species of Alocasia macrorrhiza. It is characterized by the large size of its leaves, which makes it very striking. It is a fast-growing and versatile plant, as it can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Location and Care:

If grown indoors, it should be placed in a location with plenty of light, but without direct sunlight exposure, as this can burn the leaves. Outdoors, it is recommended to place it in shade or partial shade, preferably under the protection of a tree that does not hinder its growth.

Fertilization and Watering:

It should be fertilized in early spring, and if in a pot, it is recommended to fertilize it with liquid fertilizer every 15 days in spring and summer. As for watering, it should be done moderately in spring and summer, and watering should be reduced in winter. Lack of water can cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Diseases and Maintenance:

Alocasia macrorrhiza rarely suffers from diseases, but occasionally it may be affected by red spider mites. It is important to observe the leaves to detect possible problems: if they turn yellow, it may be due to lack of water; if they wilt, it may have been exposed to direct sunlight; and if they lose their shine, it may be due to lack of fertilizer.

In Spring:

In spring, it is common for Alocasia macrorrhiza to lose some leaves, but it is also the time when new shoots will begin to appear, indicating healthy growth.

According to its Leaves:

      - Yellow Leaves: It is due to lack of water.

       - Wilted Leaves: It has been exposed to direct sunlight.

       - Dull Leaves: It is due to lack of fertilizer.

These basic care tips will help keep your Alocasia macrorrhiza healthy and beautiful throughout the year.
