Description:

Areca lutescens, also known as "Yellow Palm" or Chrysalidocarpus lutescens, is a popular indoor palm tree. It has a bushy appearance due to its large number of leaves that develop from the base in the form of a trunk, and can reach up to 8 metres in height. Its trunks take on yellow tones with increased exposure to light.

Origin and History:

Native to Madagascar and other areas of East Africa, Areca lutescens has been one of the most popular houseplants for decades due to its attractive appearance and ease of care.

Care:

Areca lutescens requires well-drained and fertilised soils. During spring and summer, a specific fertiliser can be applied to keep the plant strong and vigorous. It is important to watch out for aphids, mealy bugs or red spider mites, and apply an insecticide if necessary. Keeping the leaves clean and moist is essential, so they can be sprayed from time to time.

Watering:

During the summer, it is recommended to water Areca at least once a week. You can either immerse the plant in a container covering at least half of the pot until the substrate is completely moist, or add water gradually to the soil, allowing the substrate to absorb the necessary amount of water. Water again when the substrate begins to dry out. However, it is important to avoid excess stagnant water in the pot, as it may
