Red Philodendron  or Imperial red philodendrom is one of the most common tropical plants in our homes. It belongs to the Aracaceae family.

With impressive green and crimson leaves sprouting from a single central stem, the red Philodrendro is both elegant and lush.

They prefer bright indirect light, although they can also adapt to medium light levels. Keep them out of direct sunlight, as too much can burn their leaves.

Let them dry out between waterings. Water well when the topsoil is dry, usually once a week. Avoid overwatering and keep in mind that your watering schedule may be less frequent during the winter months.

Red Congos are not climbers but "self-directed" plants, which means they grow new foliage in layers from a single stem. They grow relatively slowly and can reach up to 1 meter high indoors.

Yellow or brown leaves are a sign of imbalance between water and light, and it is usually a problem of too much water and too little light. Make sure your plant gets the right proportion of each one. Keep in mind that if your plant doesn't receive bright indirect light, it will water less than it does.

Remember that overwatering can lead to more serious diseases and may eventually require you to change the soil.

Remove dry or dead leaves throughout the year but save any important pruning for the spring and summer months. The plant sheds its old leaves every month or two, so when you see a single sad-looking leaf

Take each sheet between two soft fabric cloths and wipe the top

Houseplants grow much more slowly than they would in nature. Depending on the size of the plant and the density of the roots, it is good to do this every two or three years to provide fresh nutrients and encourage new growth.
