Description:

Strawberries, or Fragaria, are perennial trailing plants belonging to the Rosaceae family. They are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, and they are also used for medicinal purposes.

Planting Season:

Strawberries are typically planted in early spring and mid-summer. They tolerate both cold and hot weather well and are easy to cultivate.

Soil Preparation:

The soil for growing strawberries should be loose, rich, and well-drained. If the soil is heavy, adding sand can improve drainage. Plants should be spaced approximately 30 cm apart. Strawberries can be grown in containers, hanging baskets, or in the edges of flower beds.

Watering:

Frequent watering is necessary for strawberries, but care should be taken not to overwater. They can be grown in pots or containers, hanging baskets, or at the edges of flower beds.

Fertilization:

Fertilization should be gentle to avoid excess salts. Prepare the soil with a good amount of compost or natural fertilizers. If chemical fertilizers are used, balanced fertilizers such as "5-5-5" or "10-10-10" are recommended. These can be applied if yellowing of the leaves is observed, for example.

Pruning:

Removing the first flowers when they appear is advisable to promote vigorous growth of subsequent fruits.

**Pests and Diseases:**

Strawberries may be susceptible to attacks from red spider mites and diseases such as powdery mildew.
