Sarracena Maroon

This carnivorous plant grows between 30 cm and a little more than 1 metre high depending on the species, the ones used for commercialisation (hybrid Sarracenias) are rather small and measure 30-40 cm high at the most.

Dionaea Muscipula

This is a small carnivorous plant with slender stems (10-20 cm) from which white flowers sprout in summer. The leaves have a long flat petiole and an open book shape. The margin is covered with fine, long teeth. On the upper side there are reddish, sensitive hairs which, on contact with an insect, act as a spring and the leaf closes; the teeth on the margin also close and the insect is trapped inside. It is then digested by the juices secreted by the leaves. When digestion is complete, the leaf opens again and the operation is complete.

Drosera Carpensis

This small carnivorous plant has rosette leaves that are linear in shape and are covered with reddish slimy hairs that look like they have a dewdrop on the tip. This sticky liquid traps the insects and the plant breaks them down with its digestive enzymes. They produce small, mostly white flowers, which are not interesting from an ornamental point of view.
