Crassula rupestri is a succulent that belongs to the family of the crassulaceaes.

The appeal of this plant lies in its peculiar shape, stems that  are falling in a rather twisted way composed by a series of rings inserted as if it were a collar, or a species of Caterpillar.

Very easy to grow, a  somewhat sandy or porous soils- special substrate for cacti and succulents can be used,  so that water is not stagnant, and a place with much light, semi shade or Sun - although it may be affected if the plant is a young one – and the sun is too strong.

It does not usually suffer from diseases unless it receive too much water, in which case it may be affected by root and neck rot. Another problem might be the low and persistent temperature, in which case it would be suitable to protect them a little, well inside the house or quilting the soil with mulch or by covering the plant to avoid damage by frost.

Crassula rupestri  is quite simple to reproduce, just  cut pieces of stems, let it dry for a few days to avoid the risk of rot and plant it in a soft soil to avoid difficulties to the new roots in its development. Provide sporadic watering to maintain somewhat moist soil but and waiting until the soil is almost dried before watering again.

Watering must be moderate during the spring and summer, less copious and frequent during autumn and hardly during the winter.

During the spring and summer we can add fertilizer for Succulents in the irrigation water.
