Escallonia C20

Escallonia is an evergreen dense shrub which belongs to the escalloniaceaes family.

Native to Chile is a very tough plant, even to maritime areas.

It thrives quite well in almost any type of soil as far as it does not retain the water, and can be placed from a patio to direct and strong sun exposure.

Its bright bell shaped flowers will cover the plant of pinks or white colours.

It is  advisable to feed escallonia only during the flowering time  every 15 days, either with an universal fertilizer  or special one for flowers.

Trim escallonia after  the flowers are faded to keep the plant bushier and healthier.

It might suffer from low temperatures even losing the foliage, but with the spring it will sprout again.

In the case of high temperatures and high humidity in the atmosphere, speckles on leaves might appear, so keep an eye on your plant  and spray with copper fungicide to prevent and control the desease.
