Cuphea Hyssopifolia or False Heather is an evergreen small shrub
which belongs to the lythraceae family.
It is very much used to create small hedges or in groups in the garden, both, in rustic type gardens or in a more modern and sophisticated one.
To make it thrive properly it needs rich and well drained soil.
Cuphea does not grow very high -which is a good attribute for being cultivated as a bonsai- but we can prune it slightly to rejuvenate and get a bushier plant.
Feed the plant annualy with a thin layer of humus or mature, and during spring and summer time use a montly fertilizer, mainly we can use a fertilizer for flowering.
Cuphea is normally free to pests, on the contrary it will attract butterflies.
