Pelargonium grandiflorum: Beauty in Blooms and Spring Fragrance

Description:

Pelargonium grandiflorum is a perennial plant belonging to the Gereneaceae family. The most remarkable aspect of this species is its beautiful and colorful flowers, along with the pleasant aroma emitted by its leaves during spring.

Care:

This plant is robust and thrives in direct sunlight, as well as in even poor soils. However, it benefits from a layer of organic matter added in late winter. It's important to water only when the soil is completely dry to avoid root rot. In winter, watering intervals can be extended to every 10 to 15 days.

Fertilization:

To encourage abundant and high-quality flowering, it can be fertilized with a special fertilizer for flowering plants, rich in potassium and phosphorus.

Pruning:

After flowering, pruning is advisable to maintain a compact bush. Pruning can be done just below where the flowering occurred, giving it an attractive shape to display for the rest of the season. In late winter, a more drastic pruning can be beneficial to rejuvenate the plant or control its dimensions, cutting above the new shoots.

**Pests and Diseases:**

Pelargonium grandiflorum rarely suffers from pests or diseases, making it a relatively trouble-free gardening choice.
